The Venerable Dr. Walpola Sri Rahula, himself a Buddhist monk and scholar, received the traditional monastic training and education in his ancient religion in Ceylon and held eminent positions in one of the leading monastic institutes (Pirivena). He also served as head of a university on the island. He is the author of The Heritage of the Bhikkhu.
