Edith Mirante
Edith Mirante returned to the United States in 1986 and founded Project Maje, an independent agency that documents human rights abuses in Burma. Her commentaries have been published in Asiaweek and broadcast on BBC World Service. She has lectured for Amnesty International and has testified before Congress. In addition to Burmese Looking Glass, she is the author of Down the Rat Hole: Adventures Underground on Burma’s Frontiers. Ms. Mirante is a painter and holds a black belt in karate.
