Iceberg Slim

Robert Beck attended Tuskegee Institute in the 1930s but left without receiving a degree; he then entered Chicago’s criminal subculture and was dubbed Iceberg Slim. Between the publication of his first book, in 1969, and his death in 1992, he earned his living legitimately as an author.
