Susan Elderkin

Susan Elderkin was born in 1968 in Surrey, England. She studied English at Cambridge University and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia with tutors Malcolm Bradbury and Rose Tremain.

Her first novel, Sunset over Chocolate Mountains, won a Betty Trask Award in the UK and was published in nine countries. The following year she was listed as one of 21 Orange Futures young female writers to watch out for in the 21st century. Her second novel, The Voices, was published in October 2003.

In 2003 she was named by Granta magazine as one of the twenty “Best of Young British Novelists” of the decade. She currently works as a freelance journalist and teaches Creative Writing at Manchester University. She lives in London.
