Roman Frister, the author of The Cap, was born in Poland in 1928. A survivor of the concentration camps and death marches, he was a prominent journalist in Poland until his emigration to Israel in 1957, where he served for many years as editor and reporter for the leading Israeli daily, Ha’aretz. He currently runs the Koteret School of Journalism.
