Stephen Spender

Stephen Spender was born in London in 1909. With the publication in 1933 of Poems, he gained recognition as an important poet of his generation. In addition to his volumes of poetry, he is the author of books of criticism, reportage, and autobiography, and, most recently, an adaptation of the Oedipus Trilogy and Collected Poems: 1928-1985.
